The best silicone skin by far!

This case fits snugly and doesn’t roll over the edges of the iPad when you are handling it. It is thick, with hidden air chambers that provide real shock protection. It just feels good to hold, soft and very grippy. It reminds me of the case for a Wii controller. I think this would provide real drop protection, but I will leave that test for those with more money than sense to try out. It is wide, covering the bezel, including the home button, but not interfering with its use in the slightest.
All ports are open and easily accessible, and line up perfectly. In short, it feels great, looks techie, and protects the ipad very well.

Pretty good product BUT pictures are VERY deceiving

The grip that this cover provides around the edges of the iPad is nice, as is the feeling that it added a lot of protection. But if you are looking at the pictures of it being crystal clear and shiny looking, you’ll be very disappointed!! It is opaque, not clear. Looks like a watery milk color, or a kind of see-through white. And not at all shiny. The first photo is what it looks like, but the second two are obviously not this product.

I think that the cover IS a little loose on the iPad but certainly not as bad as some of the reviews would suggest. The only annoying part of it not being skin tight is that it will collect dust, lint, etc off the screen under the edge of the cover around the screen. Certainly super easy to get on and off.

It does seem to add some weight but it’s not as bad as other reviews had me worried it would be.

I’d recommend the product as long as you are looking for a matte rather than slick/super smooth finish and if you are OK with the color. You CAN see the Apple logo through the cover on the back, though like through a fog.

Good enough to survive a two year old

My son has dropped my ipad many times!! And it has survived, so I can only say great things about this product. It is very well made and has air chambers inside that give a lot of protection and when my son drops it it even bounces of the floor and nothing happens!! Lovet it!

Nice case for the iPad BUT if you have ANY cover at all on the iPad it won’t slide in and out. If you like your iPad naked this would be the way to go. I love the Cocoon concept and ordered several things from them.

Good protection, comfortable carrying

I use these case fo my new ipod 2. It is lean and light weight, which i was looking for after years of carrying around lap tops in cases that were just too bulky for no reason. The included “board” that has all the elastic loops to secure stuff is very handy for jump drives, ear phones, etc. The only improvement in design I would make is to set up the zipper so that you could somehow use the enclosed ipod with a quick unzip instead have having to take it all the way out of the case.

It is a knockoff charger that works.

This successfully charges the iPad while using it. The sticker says it is DC 5V 2100mA so it is an actual ipad charger not just an ipod charger rebranded. The usb cable does not plug in all the way to the charger, there is a substantial gap. This is not a functional concern because it works fine. Build quality could be better, it just feels cheaply made. But if i was going for build quality, i would spend $30 on an apple one. No crazyondigital branding on the charger itself – no big deal but it shows one on the picture.

As far as the sync/charge cable, it is a sufficient knockoff. There is a little bit of white plastic used on the connector itself which is not on the apple one. On the plus side it fits more snugly than the apple one. On the minus side, it just doesn’t feel as smooth. It is the newer style cable where the entire end for the iProduct is less than 1″ long – no dumb old school push button tabs.

unbelievable value

I left my iPad charger in a motel room and wasn’t thrilled to go buy another. I had been charging my iPad with my iPhone charger and other USB chargers with limited success. I also had a “dual USB” charger that wasn’t up to the task to handle two iPhones at a time let alone my iPhone and ipad together. I decided to get a decent charger that would do two iphones and/or my ipad and iPhone at the same time. I read the reviews here on Amazon and looked at this charger as well as the more expensive dual chargers. Based on what I read here and the price I figured this was a pretty cheap (made) unit with a worthless why add it cable. It met the output requirements of the iPad and iPhone dual output so I figured I’d give it a shot. I ordered one of the $30 units to make sure, and hit my “one click” for a kind of what the heck purchase for this unit too. “It might work” First, I still don’t have the “good one” as it hasn’t showed up again. I might as well refuse it. The CrazyOnDigital unit show up in a couple of days and is to my surprise awesome. No cheap cable. (I’ve gotten cheap cables that are worthless before. This is not) My iPad and iPhone don’t whine at all about both charging and I get a full charge in what I was use to with my Apple supplied iPad charger. I am VERY jazzed because I just paid $8.99 plus $2.97 for shipping. What’s with that????

The unit is bigger than the Apple supply. About the same size as the Airbook or the older ipod chargers. Otherwise it does what it suppose to. It charges two units at once. The USB input for the cable does leave the cable protruding a bit as the other reviews state, but sooooooo. It was $10 – and made WELL I might add. This is NOT a heartland express closeout. It’s a pretty good product.

This inexpensive 2.1A charger works very well for iPad

In comparison with the original Apple iPad charger and the Griffin 2.1A iPad charger (also sold by Apple) that I already have, this charger is four times cheaper but performs just as good. Its build quality is not as good as the others and its plug does not retract, but it still feels solid. It does “look” cheap because it is just a white block of plastic and the charger has no brand. The red LED light is nicely placed.

Here is a bonus: this charger has TWO USB slots. I can charge my iPad and my phone at the same time. Also, this charger runs slightly cooler (less warm) than the other two more expensive chargers; perhaps its bigger size dissipates heat better.

As reported by another reviewer, the USB cable that comes with the charger is of inferior quality and doesn’t fit very well. However, I still give this charger 5 stars because of its solid performance and the extra USB slot–at an incredible low price.

Great for pointing, not for drawing

These stylus are very well made and work very well, if all you want to do is find an alternative to pressing the onscreen keyboard. However, these stylus are totally useless for use with a drawing program because the rubber tip will not glide across the screen. If you use your iPhone outdoors and you are wearing gloves, these stylus are for you. If you want to draw, then you’d be better off with a stylus with a soft foam tip.

Three stylii, compared; this one stinks.

Short and sweet:

I’ve tried three of the stylus brands offered on Amazon: The $15.00; the $11.99 aCase; and the cheap three-pack “Universal Touch Screen Stylus.”.

It is easy to tell you which not to buy: the cheap ones. The rubber tips on them have too much friction. You can’t write or draw easily; you literally feel like the Stylus is getting stuck on the screen. Guaranteed, one zillion percent, you will hate it.

Now, to the Boxwave vs. the aCase.

This isn’t just a draw; there’s not even a fight, because the two products are exactly the same (there’s one subtle difference in the way the little headphone-jack string insert is attached to the pen. One uses a tiny, carbiner-type hook, and the other a ring. You’d probably never notice the difference, because there is non.

So, which to buy? The aCase is three dollars cheaper, but it only comes in black. That’s it.

Buy the correct stylus

These are inexpensive, ok, cheap, stylus. I bought them to test on a cheap tablet I was testing and they worked very good. If they are lost, stolen or eaten by Fido, who cares. We are talking about bang for the buck here. And yes, they are made across the big pond.

If you need status, spend the big bucks, but don’t cry if it goes missing. It could be hiding next to that missing $200.00 remote.

Better yet, make one yourself, it’s a fun and interesting project. Brings out that MacGyver rush from the 80′s.

There are three (3) types of touch screens, buy the correct stylus for your screen.

Resistive-type screens lack the clarity of other touch screens but they tend to be very durable and can be used in a variety of environments. Resistive-type screens are the most common in use today.

Capacitive screens are resistant to outside elements, making them very durable, and they still maintain a high clarity. Unlike resistive and surface wave screens, which can be used with stylus, capacitive panels must be touched with a finger.

Surface wave touch panels are the more advanced of the three types, offering the highest clarity. But they are more easily damaged by outside elements.

The iPad has a capacitive touch screen, your gloves won’t work, and that plastic stylus from your old Palm PDA won’t work either. Buy a capacitive stylus for your iPad.

All this STYLUS stuff…

Capacitive touchscreens are everywhere. They’re in iPhones, iPads, iPods, Android/Windows smartphones, and all new tablets. Pretty much any mobile touchscreen device that is worth having, comes with a capacitive touchscreen. A stylus makes it easier to draw, paint, sketch, even write, but you’ll probably loose it too. If a screen saver has been applied, it may effect the power of the stylus.

The iPad requires a capacitive stylus, something that will conduct electric flow from your body to the screen. That’s why your finger works so good, the screen was designed that way. Have a finger, always have a stylus with you. Have a glove on, not so much, electrical flow is blocked, unless you have conductive thread sewn into the finger tips of the gloves.

Can’t decide on a stylus, cheap or pricey. Here are a couple of pricey models, Pogo Sketch Plus – Silver $14.95, Jot Stylus – $19.99 to $29.99. This discussion has been about cheap, but the cheap Universal, looks a lot like the Pogo Sketch Plus, do I smell a copy-cat here?

Or make your own stylus, cheap, easy, fun and you might learn something. Google “Make or DIY touch screen stylus”. [...]

What’ll you’ll need: a cheap plastic or metal ink pen, un-insulated small-gauge wire, a sponge or conductive foam, and a pair of scissors. Now you can make your own stylus in 5-10 minutes. Use a sponge for the tip, have to add a drop or two of water. Go with the metal pen body, lose the wire.

What is conductive foam, It’s a plastic foam that has been saturated with carbon particles, allowing it to dissipate static charges. Due to the high carbon content, it is usually black in color. It is frequently used for packaging or storing static-sensitive electronic components, such as MOSFET transistors and integrated circuits.

Another iPhone 3 Book?

I do applaud the authors as I realize that completing a book is no small task and also acknowledge the difficulty in trying to complete a technical resource before it is outdated is a race against time. Unfortunately, this book has been outdated before it was released. iPhone 4 has been out for a few months but this book is written as it is some future technology to be released sometime in the unknown future. I am not sure why the title even mentions iPad. The only iPad content it has in the book is a simple “Hello World” app. It does not even mention any of the new iPad paradigms. WHile the book was in MEAP there was a placeholder for 2 chapters on the iPad which seems to have been replace by a simple mention in one of the other chapters. A sure case against MEAP. Why pay for a book that advertises chapters that are never published. A bit of false advertising I would say. Did we really need another iPhone 3 book in light of the releases in the past few months? I would save my money for a real iPad or iOS 4 book.

Don’t rush the book to market

There is good information in the book. The bad thing is that it appears they rushed it to market without testing their examples. Multiple examples do not work, which actually teaches you more about debugging, but can be extremely frustrating. The source code online has corrected code, but it’s the final product for the chapter and not the intermediate steps in the coding so you loose something.

Yes, it’s iphone 3 but…

I decided to buy an iBooks version of this book (I now stay away from printed books whenever possible) after reading (via Amazon preview) the chapter about the iphone accelerometer (chapter 10). I have a bunch of iphone dev books and I can certainly say that this book has the best explanation and discussion about the accelerometer. I was looking for info about detecting movements and gestures but I did not find what I was looking for until I read this book. The book did not have anything about the gyroscope (which makes this book really an iphone 3 book) but still I was very impressed by the author’s coverage of the subject.

Now, that accelerometer chapter was really the one I needed. Then, I read the chapters about the push notification and the store kit. True there are information about these on the Internet but I understood those subject better reading this book.

This may not be an iphone 4 book. I’m very sure though that many of you will find this book very useful. If you cannot find from the other books what you are looking for, try this book.

I would have rated this as 4 stars but the 1 star review was too low in my opinion so I rated the book 5 stars to compensate.

Recommended.

Mostly as Shown

Followed the instructions and got it on just fine. It’s not as big as the picture led me to believe. I have a 13″ macbook pro. Unlike in the picture the body is a good inch from the bottom of the lid, and the ears are not wide enough to let the Mac apple sit on his head. Still very cute though, and it helps my sister and I tell our computers apart.
